It's gonna be sweet to blow these things up. :D :D
@mrchazta man, I know you don't like criticism and stuff like that but let's take an honest, factual look at your mod, shall we?
First of all, your mod fails in exactly the same field as all other fuel mods - it DOES NOT save the fuel level upon quitting and reloading a game. Whenever I return to the same vehicle, I ALWAYS get varying levels of fuel. My tank either "magically" fills itself, or drains. Once, when I started a game with a vehicle that was fully refueled the previous game session, THE FUEL TANK WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY!!
Empty... really, are you kidding me...?
Another minor point, though still a valid point is the fact that the fuel prices are completely science-fictional... Current gas prices in US oscillate around $3.50 - $3.90/l. Certainly not $7.50/l... It's not rocket fuel...
And finally, the HUD used for the whole mod tends to get damaged in some strange way as it either completely disappears, or blinks like a strobe light.
Your concept is great. I like how you envisaged this mod and the options available, but it is a disappointment at this moment. I'm sorry.
Same old, same old...
Random fuel value after each reload. Filled the tank the previous day, ran the game... 20% fuel left...
All these fuel mods have EXACT, SAME PROBLEM. Namely - they don't save fuel level on reload... It's always at about 47% when the game starts, even if I refueled when exiting the game...
Good concept for a mod and a neat lore-friendly solution technical-wise. But no breakthrough yet.
Ouch... the fuel level does NOT save...
A significant disadvantage... I have to reduce the rating back again. :(
Okay, after some more trials I understood how it works - the refueling price will display only when the refueling key method is set to "once". Then, the tank fills up instantly and total price is displayed. My mistake.
As far as the FPS drop is concerned I am kind of baffled... I made two more game sessions with the mod being turned on, drove on calm streets as well as busy city center and noticed no lagging... As if the lag has "magicaly" fixed itself... But I still suggest @LeFix @ikt that you keep an eye on this issue as everyone reports it at some point! Cheers!
Clever idea for an enhanced on-road realism mod. Every little option can be turned on and off with a convenient and elegant-looking menu. Keeping an eye on the fuel gauge has suddenly become fun!
The mod is not free of some issues though. The price of tanked gas always displays "-1" when you tank. Although the final price DOES REFLECT PRICE/LITER value that the user specifies, the in-game display will always show "-1" when refueling. Could probably fix it so it shows the final payment.
What is yet more troubling is the fact that the mod causes a noticeable drop in FPS. This, I believe, may be caused by whatever mechanism / algorithm that calculates the fuel level in the tank. Understandable. But could probably be fixed somehow.
So yet another mod that you can release and forget jedijosh? No, thank you...
Probably the first mod ever that I can give 5 stars to with full confidence!
Smooth gameplay, small yet aesthetic user interface and an ability to drive "civilian" cars rather than taxis only indeed enhance a "passenger driver" experience in the game. The Author brings a much-needed change to the default taxi missions which are very boring and repetitive. If only Rockstar programmers were as innovative and hardworking as LCBuffalo...
Some of the minor bugs do not spoil gameplay. Actually, the waypoint line should be COMPLETELY removed in my opinion! Then you would need to rely on your own knowledge of the state and not the GPS. (thus allowing you to scam your passengers by driving them through the longest, most expensive routes, har har har!!)
@ClavesMortis - You can actually add even more destinations and even your own classes of destinations to this mod! All you need to do is to find relevant code lines in the .vb file, write the coords down and bam! You are free to further enhance the enhancement!
Is it compatible with VisualV?
