After an outbreak of serious lice (both scalp and pubic based) broke out across the Los Santos and Blaine County region, a temporary ban was placed on all campaign and cowboy hats for local law enforcement. After many applications of prescribed ointments and shampoos, the infection started to die off. We here in the rural parts are proud to announce that the infestation is over and your fine deputies are ready to start wearing their caps again.
Oh but these changes don’t effect just the county, this is a LE headwear overhaul after-all! In addition to setting the deputies to use their hats, both male and female. It also removes the LSPD female’s hat and changes the day/night rules for when sunglasses should be worn. During the day you’ll see some cops wearing their glasses, at night you’ll only see raised or “back of head” eyewear (if any at all). These changes also apply to the Highway Patrol.

I do know how to edit the ymt with that tool. I've actually done one myself, but I failed to make some identifiers to make the ped wear a certain texture or component when it is in a vehicle.
Well, more specifically, how do you know which one is the hat?
IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT LOL
@Custo Do you know which line is related to the hat for the cop ped?
@LtRob @Nailbiter
The third section handles the pedprops. hash_8590ADD8
I mean, which how can you tell which line within the pedprops handles the hat? I assume to look in the ydd file of the prop and hunt down the prop line in the order in which it appears in the prop.
@Custo still can't understand it lol, so many numbers and values. Is there a number that enables and another one that disables props? For example 1: enables; 0: disables
Good point @LtRob . There are four numbers, I think. 0, 1, 2, and 3. The three numbers might represent the chances that the prop will spawn, with 3 being the highest? I'm not too sure.
@Nailbiter im gonna test this looking at the swat.ymt file. You should too with another emergency ped file, then we can present our results here.
I tested the base vanilla cop. It would seem that the values within the item with a group of three controls the chance up to some degree. When setting to three, the prop still refuses to spawn... @LtRob
@Nailbiter what hash tool are you using to understand which hash code is the hat? I can't find one for the ped props.
@LtRob using Atom for viewing code and the ymt converter tool listed above.
@Nailbiter can you send me the xml file with pastebin of the cop as you modified so i cross examine it with the original file and start from there.
@Nailbiter @LtRob
Please don't have this discussion in the comment section, go over to the forums to do so.
As for explaining things out, I plan on making a video explaining my findings and understanding of the ymt file. I understand the pedprop section pretty good, and I'm currently working on understanding the first two sections better. Once I feel like, I know at least 60% or more of the file, I plan on throwing together a video explaining as much as I can. I'll also, probably, post it on the forums and answer questions as well.
@Nailbiter @Custo Thanks man; btw I found I solved my problem.
I use custombackups when I'm on duty, just put in the peds section <Ped prop_head="0">s_m_y_cop_01</Ped> (with the prop_head) and they will spawn always with the hat. I don't know if it works with the backup menu that comes with lspdfr, but I think it does.
Does this make regular city cops wear sunglasses AND occasionally their hats?! The first trailer for GTA V showed cops wearing their hats after that black "cj" guy.
Anyone know if this is compatible with REDUX?
Can you make a version for RDE peds ?
Can I use my own hat on them instead of the vanilla ones?
"changes the day/night rules for when sunglasses should be worn. During the day you’ll see some cops wearing their glasses"
So how did you edit the Day/Night rules?? I want the sunglasses back
